'Under One Roof' - Heritage project
Children and older people in Leeds have brought heritage to life through giant ‘Russian Dolls’. Stories range from war time experiences to Sikh and Irish heritage and memories of the past industries of Leeds. Each of four older people’s groups, Burmantofts Senior Action, Sikh Elders, South Leeds Live @ Home Scheme and Leeds Irish Health and Homes have created their ‘dolls’ based on knowledge gained by exploring their heritage. The groups worked alongside school children at Shakespeare primary, St Nicholas Catholic primary, Hugh Gaitskell primary and Little London primary so that heritage could be brought to life in the classroom.
Under One Roof was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund
